For those that may still be interested, we did not get a weight on the bear but I am confident it was over 500lb. The skull green scored just over 21" and may be the #1 bear ever shot in Oregon by a youth.

That is awesome. i am trying to get my kids involved in hunting this year and i think what you are doing is awesome.

Not to mention that young man can cross black bear off his bucket list

Thanks for taking the time to help out a fellow hunter!!! That is a good lesson for your daughter to witness!

Nice bear too! Tell the young man congratulations. I may have missed it, but what was he using for a rig and how far was the shot?
