Colorado Unit 65

My group drew out tags for Elk and Mulie for the first combined season. Anyone have any experience hunting Unit 65 south of silver jack resivoir?

RE: Colorado Unit 65

Never hunted it, but certainly have hiked and fished in that area in the summer. It' s some pretty spectacular country. Get in shape, get off the roads, and be prepared for some steep terrain covered in thick dark timber. (Some decent oak brush country at lower elevations, but watch out for private land boundries. Most of the low stuff belongs to ranchers) By the Hunting CD-ROM from the Colorado Division of Wildlife and start poring over topo maps. Try this site: www.topozone.com You may also want to consult the USFS and BLM, as they can provide maps that show where the private land is. (and I believe there are quite a few private inholdings in that area)
