.308 bullet selection
What are some of your opinons on bullet selection and weight for said caliber?
Will be a back up rifle for an elk hunt this fall or if brother can make the trip what he will be toting. I was thinking 165gr/180gr nosler partition's with shots under 200yd's. 150gr/165gr NP too light for elk in .308? Rifle is a Weatherby vangaurd sub-moa. Dialed in the scope with some 150gr soft point, need to order hunting ammo pretty quick. And get it dialed in for what will used for hunting. Thanks for any input and I apologize up front if this horse has been beaten to a bloody pulp!! |
NP is a solid choice. Personally lean towards the heavier grain NP the rifle will shoot while still giving confident accuracy.

I'm using 165gr. NP. I've killed elk with 150gr Remington Core-Lokt.
