Sounds like a lot of gun to me, Ive shot hundreds of hogs most with a 22 mag, but in my opinion 270 winchester is a damnfine hog round and though ive never shot any id carry my 700 after black bears or elk anywhere.

OF COURSE it would be OK....
Although I don't know why anyone in thier right mind would WANT to hunt hogs, bears or elk with a rifle intended to shoot cape buffalo and elephants...But hey... It's a free country....
I assume you are as recoil proof as a tractor tire....If not, you will wound more game than you kill, because you'll be flinching like crazy...

It can't be that bad...
but none the less, I always thought the .460wby would do better by being loaded to 2400fps or so...
so either heavier bullets, to slow it down, or just less powder etc..
from what I've read 2200-2400fps is ideal for max penetration.
Btw I'd get a .458 Lott first, maybe a .450 Rigby second, .460 wouldn't make the list I don't believe.

.460 Wby. Mag.
Introduced in 1958. Considered to be the world’s largest, most powerful shoulder-fired cartridge, the .460 shoots a 500 grain bullet at 2,600 fps, delivering an incredible 7,507 foot pounds of muzzle energy. That’s 50 percent more energy than the .458 Winchester. Heavy recoil to be sure, but few hunters who need to stop a charging Rhino or Cape Buffalo complain. Nearly four tons of smashing power makes the .460 the only choice for Africa’s most dangerous game.
this came from there website. they also mentioned the shells being $153.00 for 20.
you must have some frustration to burn homeboy!
