Cody Wyoming

Wife told me this week we're moving. So it looks like i'll have to learn how to hunt out there. Is there alot of public land around? Looked on the fish and game site looked a little confusing to me maybe its just me lol. What about the Big horn area? Was thinking i'll have to take a year off of hunting to get the feel of things. I know i won't be a resident for a year. any pointers would be great you can PM thanks if anyone can help. and hows the turkey and waterfowl hunting

thanks

Mostly going to be big game hunting and there are millions of acres of public land. The sunlight basin is beautiful up there.

There is enough hunting within just a few miles of Cody to keep you occupied for the rest of your life. Includes small game, birds, varmints, elk, deer, antelope, moose.

Enjoy

Your wife told you that you are moving to Cody, Wyoming. Does she have a sister!:s2:

You are going to love Cody, Wyoming! I lived just outside of Cody for two years & loved it! I wish I could move back.
The Big Horn mountains have great public access, and you can buy a leftover area-37 cow elk permit this year after the drawing is over. The cost of a non-resident cow elk license is $302.00, this will get you out hunting this year.
Wyoming department of Game and Fish has an office in Cody, they were a big help to me after I moved to Wyoming.

You are headed to big game mecca. There is a reason guys go on their once in a lifetime hunting trips to Cody. Jim Zumbo, for one, lives there. It is a great place.

For non-residents around cody you need a guide to hunt the wilderness area. Now you can do it yourself.

Wow my wife told me the same thing. We bought land around Sundance last Dec. We wont make the move for 3 more years, our daughter has 2 1/2 years of college to go. Can't wait!
