Podunk, just ignore him.

Cutthroat is nothing but one more alias of Relentless Pursuit. His mama didn't give him enough attention when he was little or teach him how to socialize with others. He thrives on beating his little chest and attempting to make others look bad as if he were born knowing everything. He has a vast number personal shortcomings that he can't over come.

I perfer someone to show up in camp with a rifle they are familiar with and shoot accurately. Seen elk shot with almost every big game caliber out there. It's all about putting it where it belongs. O'connor and Keith are in the happy hunting grounds still debating it.

This still being hashed out.....

You want the ultimate elk gun then go look at a .338 Edge and it the dont trip your trigger go looking for the .338 AM puts the .340 wby and many others to shame.

Every guide that I have ever got info from have told me 270/30-06 class rifle. I would use the 270/280 as my minimum rifle cartridge. I have used the Contender in 35 Remington and 44 Magnum as well as the 50 cal Muzzle loader. Many use a 243 but I wouldn't. If I were buying a new rifle for a elk hunt, The 300 Win Mag would be my choice. I would not hesitate to use my 308 with the 190 grain Hornady BTSP.

I have passed down most of my guns to the younger bunch, I kept the 250 Savage, my wife's favorite deer rifle and my 308 and 45-70 for big game. I feel well armed.
