Eastern Montana Taxidermist
I' ll be hunting in Eastern Montana this fall (November) for Mulies and would like to find a good taxidermist just in case we happen to take a decent buck that we want to mount. Minnesota has passed a law which prohibits bringing back animal heads so we can only bring back the rack with skull plate cleaned and hide. I haven' t ever taken a full cape off the head so I don' t have a clue how to proceed on that one. Are there any books, etc. that would explain the process?? Anyway, if anyone knows of a decent taxidermist that they could pass along I' d appreciate it...
I did post this over in the " West" forum too.

I don' t know what part of eastern MT,but if you are hunting around the Broadus country call Powder River Outfitters and talk to Doug Gardner there and he can point you to a good taxidermist.

If you will be near Billings, I' d give Mitch Howe a call at Montana Wildlife Artistry. He takes a limited number of animals each year, so give him a call now and get to know him. Tell him you heard about him from the Nansel' s in Forsyth.
