My battery wouldn' t change much, but it' d for sure be narrowed down a lot to match rounds with game:
.22lr Marlin Model 60=small game
.22-250 Winchester 70=small game/predators
.30-06 Ruger M-77 Mark II=meduim-large game
.45-70 Marlin 1895GS=large/dangerous game
Now, my .22-250' s and .45-70' s wouldn' t necessarily have to be in there, since the .30-06' s do it all well enough, but no reason not to fill your safe if you' ve got the slots. And I' m kind of mad about not having a .416Rigby listed on here, but the .45-70 is more than enough for large/dangerous game. There' s no .44mag in there either, which really sucks, since handgun hunting is SOOOOOO much fun. Limiting myself to these four cartridges knocks out over 80% of my guns, let alone knocking out everything but these four rifles!!

7mm mag
338 win mag
I might have to consider putting in my 54 caliber muzzleloader somewhere. Guess I would have to bump the 7mm in that case.

357mag/38 spcl. with 18 1/2" barrel--small game up to deer
44mag/44 spcl. with 16" barrel--hot loaded will handle game in NA, 44 special loads are great for small game and plinking...this would be my lightweight, short, compact, carry-all-day rifle
30-06 with 26" barrel--would be my tree stand, long range rifle (as far as I should ever shoot at game)
45-70--great from deer to brown bear
Ammo for all of these guns is readily available at all types of stores in a variety of weight, type, and price.

Well, I' ll just go with what I have now.
1. 12 gauge (can hunt squirrels to deer; including birds)
2. 260 remington (varmints, deer, antelope)
3. 30-06 (varmints, deer, elk, black bear)
4. 35 Whelen (elk, moose, brown bear)
Since you said we could pick up a fifth for bear exclusively, I' d get a 338.

By what I' d shoot:
12 gauge for ducks/squirrels/etc.
.270 for everything up to things that could eat me.
.338 for things that could eat me.
I' m done.
Man, I love my .270!
Y' know, since I' m thinking about it, and I' ve got an extra gun, I think I' ll pick up a .45-70 to go play in the brush with... not necessary by any stretch, though.

1.- 12ga for short range pest work, birds, and deer in slug only states.
2.- .22-250 for varmits at ranges past 12ga.
3.- .270 for smaller " large game"
4.- .338 for Large " large game"
If adding a fifth, it would be a .22. Also a side arm no smaller than a .357
.
But we were only given four choices.

I would stick with my current battery:
.41 magnum Taurus Titanium revolver, backpack scouting trail gun.
.223 single shot handi rifle for coyotes, Win 45gr factory loads
.25-06 stainless Ruger Mark II rifle for deer and antelope, 117gr Sierra Gameking handloads.
.300 win mag, stainless H-S Precision rifle for bears and elk, 180gr Nosler Partition handloads.
I have tried a lot of calibers over the years and these are the best suited calibers for me for the game I hunt here in Idaho.

I envy those who have their battery built to their satisfaction -- it' s a pain in the neck if its not. I' m in the midst of an overhaul personally. [:@]
Of the 4+1 (bear) battery I mentioned earlier (22LR, 22-250, 7mmRemMag, 338WinMag, + 416 Rigby), I have some and some I don' t; however, I' m working on liquidating some of my less desirable stuff and adding in the " missing pieces" to my rack.
I just got my " much planned for" 416 Rigby in this week -- what a horse -- that dog definitely hunts!
I picked it up used but in near new condition, plus the seller threw in the reloading supplies (bullets, casings, and dies) for a sweet price. Looks like the " upper end" of my rack is now anchored.
I bought the 416 Rigby on GunBroker.com which was my first internet buy. It went smooth as glass. I' ve since sold a rifle on the same site, again smooth as glass with decent pricing and no middle man! This lets my " sell dollars" and my " buy dollars" come out near even -- something I could never do if selling wholesale and buying retail thru gun shops.
If you are thinking of " swapping" some stuff out, then you might consider it -- read all the rules, anticipate where mischief COULD take place, and follow some items that actually interest you as if you were going to buy and see how the auctions play out before just " jumping in." I think it is a valuable resource! [8D]
Now, to go to work on picking up a good 7mmRemMag.... lets see, what should I get rid of, maybe my childhood .270 (hasn' t been a fav since I bought my first 338WinMag at age 23) or maybe the 6mm varmit rifle -- decisions, decisions.

Minimum battery is AAA, I reckin' . Least if you ain' t countin' them itty bitty things they put in watches an' hearin' aids. I like AA flashlights fer huntin' . The Duracells last longer than the Evereadys, or so it seems. I keep mine in the refrigerator, but I ain' t sure it makes ' em last any longer. Ain' t heard of a rifle thet takes a battery, but I' m sure they got ' em. Seems to me if people worried more ' bout learnin' ' bout game an' less ' bout gadgets.......well, who knows?
