Default Chuck Adams, and maybe other hunting celebs...?

So I've been studying up on elk hunting, and have been reading about chuck, man there are some critics out there!

Wondering if this is just one of those, when you're on top, everyone's trying to knock you down sorta things. Or do you think most of these hunting celebs do dirty stuff to get in the game?

I've heard some less than reputible stuff about other hunters, though more of the tv show types than the world record types, etc...

What do you think?

I belive Chuck Adams and a hand full of others are for real. The ones that put there name on anything moving and stuff I realy wonder about. When Game Trails was fined a lot of stuff came out in the wash about some of the hunters you see on tv. The guys that hunt public land or did it your self hunters are the ones I trust and belive.

I think Chuck is the real deal. Many of the others are just TV stars not hunters.

Some of the big names get special consideration from outfitters and guides. They keep their best areas set aside for writers/tv that they know will get publicity and help drive additional clients to them or allow them to charge higher fees. There are times too when they find a really large or record book animal that they will keep track of that animal and not put another hunter on it, saving it for the big name or big money client. Makes good business sense for the outfitter, but not exactly an honest reresentation of their services or the hunting skills of the big name client that bags the trophy. I guess it is just the world we live in, money drives everything.

I met Chuck at a show when I was a kid, before I could legally hunt. He wouldn't give me time of day, and to this day I hate him. However I think he's for real and possibly the best bowhunter who ever lived.

There are alot of TV hunters who couldn't hunt thier way out of a Wal-Mart. There are also a few who are bashed on this board and others who have been knocking down big critters since nobody cared. I believe much of this is caused by "He kills big bucks all the time and I never kill any so he must be cheating" Truth is he's just plain better.

I know outfitters that have hosted several celebrities. Some like Chuck Adams are for real, but Hank Williams Jr,and Jim Zumbo in particular were not well liked by the outfitters and their staff.

my father was actually kinda "dumped" by an outfitter because he had a tv crew coming or that decided to come after he had arranged to book this outfitter for his hunt.

don't think the outfitter appreciated him questioning their contract/form, or lack there of I should say.

WOW! You really don't know how other people perceive us. This encounter at an early age still evokes anger and hate from you as an adult (assuming you are now 21 years +?). I am no psyciatrist, but sounds like you need to let that go.

Ever been preoccupied and virtually ignored a 9 or 10 year old yourself? Maybe he was having a bad day. I have certainly had plenty of those? Just sounds like it is hurting you far more than it will ever affect him. Had he known how much it affected you, I would suspect he would have apologized. I can't tell you how many times my wife, coworker, friend etc. misconstrues my preocupation with other things as a slight on them, when that is the fartherest thing from my mind.

There is proably no excuse, but there certainly could be some reason why this occured rather than he was just a b...head.
