Definitely meat rather than trophy hunter as this way I can share a good eating experience with friends and acquaintances. Once down, it becomes a race to gut the animal and get it to the meat cooler so that the meat is in the best condition possible. As for racks, it has to be an exceptional rack before I wind up taking the animal involved.

When taking animals - usually does if it is deer, cows if it' s elk or moose; also depends on what I got tags drawn for.

I read a story in Trophy Hunter magazine where a Grizzly ate the cape of a trophy moose before the author could get it out. He said that in Alaska the law is you have to pack out the meat first and the antlers and cape last. Is that true and for how many species? Sounds like a good law to me.

I' m not in it for either, I' m in it for the thrill, and the spirituality of it. God put creatures here to sustain us, and our society has pushed Him away along with His providence, hunting gives us a chance to get back to nature and experience what he' s given us.

I' m with Nomercy! I' ve been on alot of hunts where I went home without headbones or meat and those were still some of the best times I' ve ever had. For me it' s all about the time spend in the cool, crisp air, around the campfire stretching the truth about the 7X8 bull you saw that day. (actually a raggy 5X). And what is it that makes a hot meal so delicious after humping up and down mountains all day??
