RE: DIY Speed Goat

I've had snow/rain in september, and that was southeast WY. Why so late with a bow? I'd figured you'd want to be on water holes before the rifle season opens up if I were archery hunting.

Is your CO mule deer hunt going to be archery? May attempt an archery mule deer hunt in CO next year.

I'm getting really excited about goat season too. I'm headed to W. So.Dak in late August. I put my archery tag application in the mail yesterday.

Your going to be smack dab inthe middle of rifle season. They will be skittish I doubt you will have much success with a blind on a waterhole. I would throw your rifle in the truck.
Plus, I have been up there during rifle season many times. I wouldn't want to be in a blind up there then. Someone is liable to shoot at it to sight their rifle in.

we normally hunt water holes from opener in mid august till the weather starts cooling anywhere from the first of September to the end. Have never hunted them in October on water with a bow but have shot them on water with Muzzleloader.we have more luck with decoys and an antelope challenge call at the end of September. Sounds like that should be a rifle time frame so a decoy aint a real good idea safety wise. Maybe you can hunt them with your muzzy if the rifle season is open since you enjoy the muzzleloader hunts so well.
