Wyo. Antelope around Newcastle
Anyone have any info in this general area??? I am going on an Antelope hunt this year. But I have closefamily in Newcastle (Don't hunt)that I haven't seen in a bit and time is not on their side.Could be one of those trips..........But a good much needed trip as well. Wouldn't a good Antelope brighten some face's!
Any info on draw, blm or treaspass fees would be great.
Have a good day

RE: Wyo. Antelope around Newcastle
if you go north and west of newcastle unit 5 has some good goats, but it has a lot of private ground, southwest has a lot of public ground, and a lot of hunters unit 6 or 10 would be good areas, you have to get off the road and walk away from the other hunters and you shouldget a shot at a good goat. i deer hunt southwest of newcastle, and see good numbers of 13 to 14inch bucks just get away from the crowds and you will have a good hunt

Keep in mind that all Antelope tags are drawing only and non-resident applications are taken from Jan 1 to Mar 15th. The drawing results are posted at or about July 10th. There may be leftover licences that weren't drawn that can be bought "over the counter" at a licensed agent in the hunt area you wish. Also, if you just want some good meat, you could buy leftover licenses for the "reduced doe/fawn" tags.
From our G&F web site:
If you've got family there, they probably know somebody that knows somebody that knows where to go or even a rancher who would LOVE for you to shoot some goats off his property!
From our G&F web site:
"In 2009, there will potentially not be a leftover draw. Leftover licenses
will be available at automated license selling agents. Please check the
Department’s Web site at http://gf.state.wy.us or call (307) 777-4600 for
details after April 1, 2009."If you've got family there, they probably know somebody that knows somebody that knows where to go or even a rancher who would LOVE for you to shoot some goats off his property!
