RE: Sons first Mule deer
There was a bunch of cuts in this area, we stalked up one closest to the buck, got 165yds away, told him to hold right on the grass line and body which was mid-way up the bucks vitals, told him to squeze the triger, and what did he do, shot right over the bucks back, I guess buck fever had a hold of him just a bit, did me and I was not even the one shooting, the buck ran toward us about 10 yds looking for what he heard, and my son pulled it together with his second shot, dropping him right in his tracks, this is the second good buck (great buck) we have gotten this year, My oldest son and I killed during archery season in Aug. I shot an old Mule deer, and my oldest son shot this coues for his first arhery kill deer. What a year

We live in a place here in Az. that 90" inch coues deer are not to difficult to find, but a 170" mule deer that is a little harder to find, we scored this buck this morning and he will gross 167 2/8, I would not have turned down this buck for a 90" coues, I have killed several bucks in the mid to upper 90's and several mule deer that score mid 140's with archery equipment , I would take a coues deer over a mule deer anyday, but I have to tell you watching this buck, I would have shot him in an instant. Happy hunting
