RE: best rifle for alaska
Elkamp, yes you may ask. Both of my brothers went to alaska, my dad went years ago, a few guys from my town, and my buddy' s son all went there not to long ago. All of them said they didn' t have that big of a problem getting there, they were all in a few years before they went. I didn' t expect to go there right out of basic, just as soon as I can.
I guess I just like thinking about it. We all have places that we really want to go. I just don' t want to get there and find that I am either way under prepared or woefully undergunned. And for years I only bowhunted. I never gave firearms that much mind. And recently I started getting back into gun hunting. Just double checking that I' m not totaly off my rocker on my thoughts on game rifles (30-30 for elk and all). |
RE: best rifle for alaska
I' m primarily a bow hunter as you can probably tell by my user name. I have a Browning Synthetic Stalker Stainless Steel 300Win Mag A-bolt with a Nikon Monarch 5.5-16.5 scope. I to am looking to go to Alaska and would like some opinions on my setup. Good or bad, just shoot me straight. If I need better equipment for 10 day Moose hunt, please let me know. I primarily wanted to bow hunt, but the guide told me to bring a rifle as well in case the weather would not permit optimal bow hunting conditions.
Any response would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks and good hunting!!!! |
