I'll go for the lesser of the two evils which is John McCain. I don't trust government period as none of them have a backbone anymore and it's more control every day. Maybe someday a politician with some Kahunas will come along and say "We are going to clean house on government". Not sure if I'll ever see that happen but it needs to. In Minnesota, the largest employer is Government. There just something wrong there. Government doesn't have money...they have our money and people need to remember that.

As for Obama, I just received my "Obama S**" bumper sticker and my shirt that reads "Warning-I'm a bitter Christian clinging to my guns! NOBAMA". You don't think he's anti gun?? Listen to talk radio as it's very informative and you'll hear the other side that the liberal media never reveals. Just google Obama Anti Gun and you'll find all sorts of info. Here are a few link. He's anti white, anti american, and will turn this country into a socialist country devoid of freedom before you know it.

He just spoke many timesin Montana and made numerous assurances that he supports the 2nd amendment and the individual's right to bear arms. I have heard no credible report of Obama being anti-gun.

For Obama's 2nd amendment views just do a quick intenet search, here is a good list of his stance that I found. I do believe this post belongs in the politics forum vs the big game forum.

From politickerpa.com
"Obama Has A Long Anti-Gun Record:
Obama Was Director Of Anti-Gun Joyce Foundation, Which Spent Millions On Gun-Control Causes. "Adding even further skepticism to Obama's claim of support for the 2nd Amendment is his previous service as a director of the Joyce Foundation. Since 2000, the Joyce Foundation has provided over $15 Million in funding to radical gun control organizations such as the Violence Policy Center and the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence. The Joyce Foundation is tightly linked to the Soros Open Society Institute -- an extremist group that advocates a worldwide ban on civilian firearm ownership." (Illinois State Rifle Association, "ISRA Blasts Candidate Obama On His Record Of Hostility Toward Law-Abiding Firearm Owners," Press Release, 8/24/04)
Running For The U.S. Senate In 2004, Obama Advocated National Gun-Control Legislation. "On the issue of prohibiting citizens from carrying concealed weapons, Obama said he believes national legislation should be passed to ‘prevent other states' laws [allowing citizens to conceal their guns] from threatening the safety of Illinois residents.'" (John Chase, "Keyes, Obama Are Far Apart On Guns," Chicago Tribune, 9/15/04)
Obama Has Expressed His Opposition To Concealed Carry. Obama: "I mean, I am consistently on record and will continue to be on record as opposing concealed carry." (David Mendell, "Obama Has Center In His Sights," Chicago Tribune, 4/27/04)
In 2001, Obama Voted Against A Bill To Allow Individuals To Carry A Concealed Weapon When They Have A Valid Order Of Protection Out Against Another Person. (S.B. 604, Senate Floor Third Reading, Failed, 29-27-0, 4/4/01, Obama Voted Nay)
Obama Believes The DC Gun Ban Is Constitutional. "Obama believes the D.C. handgun law is constitutional." (James Oliphant and Michael J. Higgins, "Court To Hear Gun Case," Chicago Tribune, 11/20/07)
In 2004, Obama Voted Against Self-Defense Rights. "[Obama] opposed letting people use a self-defense argument if charged with violating local handgun bans by using weapons in their homes. The bill was a reaction to a Chicago-area man who, after shooting an intruder, was charged with a handgun violation." ("Obama Record May Be Gold Mine For Critics," The Associated Press, 1/17/07)
Obama Wants To Turn Law-Abiding Gun Owners Who Are Victims Of Theft Into Felons. "Obama is proposing to make it a felony for a gun owner whose firearm was stolen from his residence which causes harm to another person if that weapon was not securely stored in that home." (Chinta Strausberg, "Obama Unveils Federal Gun Bill," Chicago Defender, 12/13/99)
In 2005, Obama Voted Twice To Hold Manufacturers, Distributors, Dealers And Importers Of Firearms And Ammunition Liable For The Acts Of Criminals. (S. 397, CQ Vote #206: Motion Agreed To 66-32: R 53-1; D 13-30; I 0-1, 7/26/05, Obama Voted Nay; S. 397, CQ Vote #219: Passed 65-31: R 50-2; D 14-29; I 1-0, 7/29/05, Obama Voted Nay)
Obama Pressed To Require Gun Owners To Supply Photos And Fingerprints To State Officials. "Sen. Barack Obama of Chicago called the Democrats' proposed crackdown ‘not only constitutional, but eminently reasonable.' ... The proposals would: ... Make gun owners apply in person for Firearm Owner Identification cards and supply their photos and fingerprints." (Sean Noble, "Senate Democrats' Proposals Take Aim At Weapons Control," The [Springfield, IL] State Journal-Register, 2/15/01)
In 1999, Obama Came Out In Support Of "Smart Gun" Technology. "[Obama is] also asking that gun manufacturers be required to develop safety measures that permit only the original owner of the firearm to operate the weapon purchased." (Chinta Strausberg, "Obama Unveils Federal Gun Bill," Chicago Defender, 12/13/99)
Obama Has Expressed His Continued Support For Registration and Licensing. Obama: "I'll continue to be in favor of handgun law registration requirements and licensing requirements for training ..." (Chinta Strausberg, "Obama And Trotter Takes Aim At IRA For Waging Unjust Campaign," Chicago Defender, 7/5/01)
Obama Has Received "F" Ratings From The National Rifle Association:
In 2004, 2002 And 1998, Obama Received "F" Ratings From The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund. The NRA has given Obama 3 "F's." (National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund Website, www.nrapvf.org, Accessed 1/8/08; National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund Website, www.nrapvf.org, Accessed 1/8/08; 1998 Illinois National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund Political Preference Chart, p.2)
Obama Wanted To Ban Gun Businesses From Being Within Five Miles Of A School Or Park, But Balked At Placing Similar Restrictions On Porn Shops:
In 1999, Obama Urged Legislation That "Would Eliminate Gun Stores From Almost The Entire Inhabited Portion Of The United States." "In 1999, Mr. Obama urged enactment of a federal law prohibiting the operation of any gun store within five miles of a school or park. This would eliminate gun stores from almost the entire inhabited portion of the United States." (David Kopel, Op-Ed, "The Democrats And Gun Control," The Wall Street Journal, 4/17/08)
[*]But In 2001, Obama Voted "Present" On A Bill To Place Similar Restrictions On Adult Establishments. In 2001, Obama refused to support a bill restricting "adult use" establishments by prohibiting locations of such establishments within 1000 feet of schools, parks, places of worship, preschools, day cares and other residential areas. (S.B. 609: Senate Floor Third Reading, Failed, 33-15-05, 3/29/01, Obama Voted Present)

How astonishing . . . credible reports that Obama is anti-gun. I am so inordinately shocked!!! A Democrat who is anti-gun!!! Who would have thunk it! And to make it even more astonishing .. . a Democrat from Chicago, Illinois is anti-gun!!!!

Face it, Obama is a card carrying liberal and expect every traditional liberal stance out of him, including being anti-gun. Now if you are a liberal and buy into all that stuff, that is your business. But don't delude yourself about where the guy is coming from and what he stands for.

I agree this unfortunate thread should have not been allowed to stay in the Big Game Forum, but I'm not themoderator so I will respond here.

I tried to check some of the above "credible reports" without success. Both the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Defender searches turned up nothing or require a purchase to get an article out of the archives. Why not post usablelinksto bolster your argumentinstead of unusablejunk?

The Wall Street Journal, which I do have a subscription to, did have an op-ed piece by Kopel on 4/17/2008. This article did contain some unsubstantiatedallegations which call into question whether Obama believes in unrestricted guns near schools, parks, etc. In the words of Dick Cheney (when told 2/3 of Americans oppose what we are doing in Iraq), "so what"? Even the NRA (hardly an objectivecredible source regarding guns) supports making it illegal for madmen to carry concealed weapons. Of course it took a slaughter of 30+ at Virginia Tech by aman adjudicated insanefor them to go that far.

The point is, I'm still can not support John McCain or any Republican for President. When the Republicans vetoed the children's health insurance program that provides needy American children with access to doctors when they are sick or injured, they lost my vote forever. This at a time when the Republicans think nothing of spending billions each week on the oil-rich Iraqis and their children. Sometimes a vote comes along that cyrstalizes who stands for what. The Republicans made it clear they don't stand for American children.

In addition, what good is the "right" to carry a full-auto Uzi under your trench coat in crowded places when you're working 4 part-time jobs without benefits to keep your children from starving? I'll stick with the people who, in reality, support me and mine. I still have the mental acumen to tell the difference.

I'm a life long hunter and gun owner, but the party of wealth and war won't get a knee-jerk vote out of me regardingtheir so-called devotion to my gun rights.

My vote is still on the fence, but I will say this ; when Clinton wasin office, my life was easier. My house was bigger, my job more stable, my gas tank full and my entire family had health care. I'm not saying I'm voting for Obama and yes I KNOW this was not just because of Bill Clinton, and yes I am aware of how NAFTA impacted our country . . I'mjust saying that this country needs a dramatic change in character and FAST. Every one outside of America hates us, and that's a problemfrom where I'm sittin'. I also believe that some of you might be listening to too much Rush. I wantyou think about it. . . if he's SOOO smart and SOOO right onABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. . . .then why is he not our President. . . .why is he a freakin' talk show dj ??? It's 100% brain washing and SCARE TACTICS. . .and some of youhave bought into it- hook, line and sinker.Learn to think for yourselves. Don't take all the words from the TV, radio and internet to the bank! Learn to sift through and filter outthe BS!!!

I find this kind of ironic you wont vote for those who wont( Even thoe the bill that would have gave then Insurance were for low income children which already have free health care ) give health care to children but you vote for those who will let you kill the un born ?

Points to remember on any election day.

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.

You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.

You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.

You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.

You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.

You cannot build character and courage by taking away men's initiative and independence.

You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.

---Abraham Lincoln

Whose political platform does this sound like? Get ready for higher taxes to pay for the handouts Obama has in store. Not to mention his dream to save Africa courtesy of US dollars. Bush has done some stupid things. Just as Bill Clinton did before him. As long as congress is filled with lifers like Ted Kennedy, nothing will change. Obama will not bring the country together as his radical ideas will finally split this country in half. If you think the Democrats have the answers, why has the USA taken such a nosedive since the Dems took over Congress promising change? They changed it all right.

I too wish we had a better choice than McCain. Obama isn't it. I really dread what will happen to my investments, savings, pension, children's inheritances, my rights to own guns, and mostly my countryif Obama takes over. Those stockpiling and hoarding for the future may be seen as crazy now but they will be the survivors in the end. I plan to be a survivor.

I have to laugh when the republicans talk about "higher taxes" in one breath and then "fiscal responsibility" in another. About sixteen years ago, one William Jefferson Clinton ran on a platform of tax cuts for the middle class. Then mostly due to a funny little self-made (i.e. NOT like our current POTUS) man from Texas had made a big stink about federal deficits, and how dangerous they were. (He made another comment about NAFTA and jobs going down the toilet, but that is another post).

Regardless, Mr. Bill changed his tune, and immediately raised taxes on all, and insisted on a balanced budget, which we managed for a few blessed years. The results included a stronger dollar, economic prosperity, increased foreign investors, and lower oil prices. Things were so good in fact, we had a surplus. A surplus that Mr. Clinton wanted to apply to Socail Security to ensure its solvency.

Then came Bush who once again told us that deficits don't matter, and that taxes are bad, and that instead of putting surpluses away for a rainy day, we should return all of the money to the taxpayers...which he did.

They the crap hit the fan, the dollar got weak, he cut taxes a few more times, got us involved into two wars which were really police actions (Only Congress can declare war, ready your Constitution) which have failed time and again since the Korean incident. He spent money on his two wars like a sailor on a bender, which he kind of was, but he was a pilot..well kinda a pilot, and the deficits got deeper and the dollar got weaker. Then we started noticing that Social Security did not look so solvent anymore. Congress ran out of money. Our POTUS got the Republican controlled congress to tap the Social Security fund, and leave big IOU in it. If you are a federal employee, they took your 401K, even the money you voluntarily put in, not just the matching contributions. All of this money went to save a bunch of Arabs that never asked us to save us (well at least not within the last ten years) and give them a democracy that they did not want, cause what they really wanted was a Shia government just like their nieghbors Iran had. Anyways, at least someone is benefiting from your pensions and 401ks...its just President Abaminijab from Iran.

Of course, when you spend like Paris Hilton but have the income of a Starbucks barista.....things don't go so well, especially when happy Arabs slam airplanes into buildings cause we pissed them off a few decades back by selling some arms to guys they did not particularly care for, who used them against them in some not so nice ways, and we did not provide enough military support to ensure that OUR guys won (they kinda lost and the other guys found out who was selling who, what). If we learned anything we know anything, its that them damend Arabs know how to hold a grudge. They have been feuding each other for milineums, a few decades is nothing to these people. They got time like they got sand.

So Mr. Greenspan started cutting interest rates, then he cut them some more, and some more, and yet some more....that of course, led to more greed, dishonesty, and our Republican controlled Congress looked away. Of course you can only play "hot potato" for so long, then the music stops and somebody had to hod the potato.

So, who you gonna believe. An editorial or your own lying eyes...
