RE: High Country Mule Deer

If I get lucky in NM, I'll be doing some in Jan......late season archery.

Though next year CO early season archery is the semi plan.

Thanks for all the replies! I'm still undecided on CO or NM.. They are both 20hrs from here, so I doubt I will go any further west at this time...

The research alone is overwhelming, Im sure the hunting will be much worse!

I have taken quite a few bucks during late hunts. Last year was tough as the migration really started on the last day. I passed up several bucks like this one early on, but figured with only 6 hours left in the season, I had better make my move..

RE: High Country Mule Deer

Just went on my first Colorado Mule Deer hunt this past November (self guided). It was also my first time out West. To date, it wasmy best hunting experience.I saw1 bighorn, 3 coyotes, about 300 pronghorn, 100 Mule deer Doe, 8 Mule deer bucks, and 25 elk (three bulls). I passed on several decent bucks hoping for a larger one. On the second to last day a 4x4 and a 5x6 avoided me be staying on private property. That afternoon I decided to shoot the next buck I saw so I could process it and prepare for the flight back. I took this (Below) 2x2 from 225 yards (short distance for out west).I learned a great deal about Mule deer and am looking forward to my next trip toColorado. Some advice..... GET IN SHAPE!!!

Expect to spend 8 hours a day doing this:

I'll give you some specific information if you answer some questions:

What state/unit?
What month?
How high is high?
What shape are you in?

Done a lot of it. How high is high? 14000 ft high enough? Nothing quite like it.
