Welcome

While you're here, why don't you tell us about that bear hunt
It wasn't actually a bear hunt, it was an incidental kill on a moose hunt.
I am first and foremost a meat hunter and the GMU (game management unit) that I hunt has a large number of grizzly bears and they take out a large number of moose calves. While I don't go out specifically looking for bear I will take one when I can. That one had come in around daylight the previous day and taken half a caribou off our meat poles. I got up the day that I shot it and waited for it to get light enough to see. I heard the bear coming in toward camp and it was light enough for a shot, broke the back just behind the front shoulder. Most of the time I carry a .300 Wtby but when I'm expecting bears I shoot a .375 H&H.

I have the luxury of being able to take more than one firearm when I hunt and I typically stay out for a little over 3 weekson our moose hunt so we pack a lot of gear. I hunt above tree line so some of the shots are long range and for that I like my 700 Remington Classic in .300 Wtby once either my wife or I have moose hanging I carry my 700 Classic in .375 H&H. I'm partial to Swift A-frames for both calibers.
