Bowhunting Muskox
 

Has anyone done this? I would love to go to the artic and bowhunt muskox. What is the price range for a hunt?

couldnt tell ya a price! In ak you dont need a guide! The chances of drawin on the slope are slim. There is also an island hunt with better odds of drawing and also a registration. Been up on more then a few of them though, what a riot! prehistoric creatures with very few cares in the world!

ya but only with a camera <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>! SO far I havent been drawn for it and it looks like the loophold in the law in the dalton highway corridor is going to get changed so I guess I cant do that either! (take a sled over to a eskimo village) They are a pretty cool animal and I think they would be fun to hunt but they are vastly different then whitetails.

My dad shot one off the island mentioned above in AK but that was a long time ago and I don't remember all the details. The draw permit was hard to get just like a few others were in AK (Bison, Ft. Rich moose, goat) back when we were putting in for them (80s & 90s). Back then you didn't need a guide but you did need to use an outfitter on the island (AK residents). My dad did shoot a good size bull which he had shoulder mounted. The meat was great too.

you are looking at about $3800 not including airfare which can get pricey in the arctic. Check out this site of a fellow that is probably the most respected and reputable arctic outfitters.
