moose bullets

I am going to Canada to moose hunt next fall. I am currently planning on using a 7 mag with 165 boat tail bullets. Is this adequate or should I use larger and switch to a nosler partition? Thanks for your input.

I personally like using nosler partitions out of my rifles no matter what caliber I'm using had nothing but excellent results with them just my opinion

Kansas Where you coming to in Canada?? I hunt moose up here and would say use a premium bullet. moose have big bones and muscles and you want maximum penetration to take out the boiler room!

165 would be fairly good, but 175 would be better. Use a premium bullet such as nosler, barnes, bear claws or A-frame. I used the Barnes 180's XLC last year on moose and it dropped him in his tracks with my 30-06. The Hornady light magnums with the new bonded bulles would be good or the Remington Safari grade.

Partitions in any weight will work well.I have taken several moose with the 140gr partition out of the 7mm rem mag and 7mmstw.

175 Gr. Nosler Partitions. Good luck.

In my opinion, a premium bullet with a weight of 150 grains or more will work just fine. While a moose is big, they are rather easy to kill. It just takes them a moment to realize that part. =) Shot a bull last year with a 180 grain fail safe out of my 300 WSM, and shot one the year before with a 200 grain Barnes X out of a 300 Win. Mag.

Premium bullet. Nosler is hard to beat. What area of Canada are you hunting in? I go for the boiler room with the first shot and then the shoulder for the second. Hope then they realize their dead and don't make it further into the swamp.

Any premium bullet will do. I would recommend heavier than lighter, but most importantly find a bullet that gives you accuracy. Shot placement is more important.

I use nosler partitions and winchester failsafes. Both work well.
