DIY antelope/mule deer-looking for pointers
Some buddies and I have been talking about a DIY antelope/mule deer combo (probably gun or m/l) in the next year or two. We have the equipment to set up a good base camp. Could some of you help with narrowing down the states where this might be a reality for an opportunity at both. I know from my firefighting trips out west that we saw both in Wyoming, Nevada, and Idaho. Just looking for some leads. I think average on the speed goats to average to above average mule deer would be the 'class' of animals we would like to have an opportunity at. Any help would be appreciated!!!

RE: DIY antelope/mule deer
We are thinking Montana, maybe on one of the wildlife refuges like Charles M Russell. Anyone got any tips on that area?

RE: DIY antelope/mule deer
The trick is to draw both the tags in the same year. If it were me and I was thinking of Montana I would put in for thebig game combo and a "700" antelope tags way better odds.
The CMR is loved to death still lots of country but man are there alot of hunters. Yesterday I counted 226 vehicles onthe road toBone trail and tallied up 21 different states and two Canadian Provinces. Good thing I can choose when I hunt because it was a zoo out there opening day. Alsoif the weather turns the CMR is impassable. Happens some years but not others. If it rainsyou will have to abandon the country ASAP. Nemont |
