RE: Back from Wyoming
Story - will keep it short and sweet...
On the first day we had drawn straws with my buddy Josh getting first draw, brandon drawing second, and me third. We had the task at hand of filling 6 tags in 3 days... The first fully attempted stalk put us in range of a herd with 3 nice bucks and about 3 dozen does. Due to some technical difficulties Brandon ended up getting first score with a dandy of a buck. On the way back to the truck a nice doe trotted by us at about 50 yards and Josh makes a perfect double lung on her - 2 down. We took pics and hung them in the shade. a few hours later a combination stalk/ push and Josh was standing over a nice buck with 2 well placed shots from 300 yards in the 30 mph winds. 3 Down - Day 2 On our morning cruise we spotted a big herd bedded within range of a ditch about a mile from the road. Truck parked we make the stalk me carrying my Knight Disc Elite 45. Get into position and the herd buck is at 220 or so, but the closest big doe is at 168 and given the circumstances she looked fine with me. As the gun went off and smoke covered my view i heard the whap of the 200 grain sst and 50 yards out laid my doe. A couple hours later we made a short stalk to a ridgetop and my buck fell to a 25-06 round through the shoulders. Day three brought a nice horned doe for brandon and all tags full... |
