180 grain.
They are big and tough animals, a little more stopping power won't hurt.
Make sure you shoot a few at the range to ensure you are sighted in properly. The ballastics and trajectory may change, sometimes significantly!
Good luck!!!

Remington 788, congrats on your moose tag. I just finished a NH moose hunt w/ my cousin. We ended up baggin a nice 50" 750 lbs bull on day 8. It was the hunt of lifetime for me. The whole experience was awesome. From the area, hunting and people we met were great.
In regards to you using a 308. don't worry. I used mine w/ 180 grain core lokts in a Remington semi auto. at first I was skeptical w/ the 308. but was confident w/ my shooting skills and knew shot placement was key. But remember sometimes it just isn't that easy. none of the 3 shots we hit our moose were found. all exited.
I tried 3 different bullets and got best groups from the core lokts. I had good success w/them for deer also. Besides if the my 308. didn't get the job my cousins 35 whelen would take care of it. I even brought out my 30-30 a few times during the hunt also.
Best of luck w/ your moose hunt. You will enjoy it.

RE: First year Moose hunting
So many moose in Canada have been shot with the 303 that I am sure a 150 grain 308 will be more than suficient.
Personally Never shot a moose but have shot big bull elk with 140 grain 270..
My personal reccommendation to you is go Copper!! I personally think using a Barnes TSX with at any weight will be more than effective with the 308.
And GOOD LUCK, I am hoping to get drawn for moose next fall and will be putting in as much time as possible with my bow during the rut.

Congrats! Moose are large animals but they are thin skin. Where do you hunt?

Congrats on your moose and glad yourload worked out for you but personally I would have opted for something more robust then the corelokt. Where I hunt moose sometimes a shoulder shot is all that is given and an after the shot trot might make for several hours more work so I play on the safe side and use Barnes TSX's (or comparable).
