The each very in gun weight, bullet weight, charge weight, etc.
Exactly. When the same parent case is used with different caliber bullets, the smaller caliber cartridges use lighter bullet weights to attain similar sectional densities, which results in the smaller caliber cartridges producing less recoil. Why the smaller caliber cartridges produce less recoil is not the issue. The fact is that using the common hunting bullet weights in each, the smaller caliber cartridges do produce noticeably less recoil than a larger caliber cartridge using the same parent case.

This came about from someone stating the 25.06 has less recoil then a 270.
Which was and still is a true statement.

If you were too down load the 7mm 4 grs of powder to the max load of a 243, with the same bullet weight and measured the recoil it would be virtually the same.
Of course there are two problems with that statement. The first is that you are downloading the 7mm-08 by 10% .Of course you can download any cartridge to reduce the recoil, but to do a fair comparison, both need to be compared at full power.Secondly the common bullet weight for the 243 win for big game hunting is 100gr with most factory loads only going as heavy as 100 gr.The common bullet weight for hunting big game with the 7mm-08 is around 140gr,with few if any factory big game loads weighing much less.Even if you reload, there are very few bullet weights that overlap both cartridges. Therefore, your theory is virtually meaningless from a practical standpoint.

338 win mag! That way when she doesn't like it you won't have to worry about her ruining 'Deer Camp'. Just kidding!

Get a rifle that fits her. If she's small find a youth model 7 in 260 rem. She'll love it, And I promise it will take down 90% of the game in North America.

Why not try a muzzleloader. IMHO they are good guns for beginners - teaches you to use that 1 shot intelligently.

I have shot numerous 50 caliber muzzleloaders with loads that would be good for mulies and the kick is very mild. I also know some youngsters that shoot them for this very reason.

someone told her they they all kick like a mule,
And the problem starts right here. Idiots that have no business giving gun advice opening up theirmouths. [:@]Now when she goes to the range it won't matter what rifle she is shooting she will be afrade of it.

If whe is comfortably shooting a 12 or 20 ga shotgun there is no reason that she should be afrade of a .270 provided therifle fits her.

For mule deer and even elk the .270 will do an excelent job. A regular ole 130 grain bullet will put the hammer on deer and a good heavily constructed bullet in 140 or 150 grains willcleanly killany elk.

A .243, 7mm-08, and a .308 have exactly the same recoil????????
Now tht's funny right there, I don't care who you are.
Yep, some people definetly shouldn't give gun advice.
