300 Savage Big Enough for Black Bear?

This is my first year bear hunting and the only rifle I have is a 300 hundred savage. Is this big enough for a black bear? Also what is the Min. draw weight that a bow should be to hunt black bear?

300 Savage is plenty for bears. Load her up with a good 150-180gr bullet, and it'll anchor 'em no problem. By a good bullet I mean a Nosler Partition, Accu-Bond, Barnes TSX, etc. I'd stay away from Ballistic tips and such.

For the minimum weight of a bow I'd say 50lbs. Check the regs where you will be hunting.

Yup, it'll drop a bear no problem if you do your part

Oh Ya. I Dropped a 6 footer last year with a 6 mm remington. (like a 243) It is all about shot placement!

I have used that gun, for years, Killed Elk, bear, and deer that is a great brush gun, not only that but bears are built soft. You'll do well with it.
