Moving to Steamboat Springs,CO in three weeks, wife landed a great job there. Any locals from huntnet living there let me know, like to meet you.CO law states that I can't buy a resident hunting license until I have had residency for 6 months, so this falls hunting is out. I would be interested in helping some guides in the area that need some help.

Steamboat Springs is a real cool corner of the world.
Even better with your wife having a real good job, which can be "the rub" with living in good elk country.
Unless money is the issue, you can still get Left Over Draw licenses and then there is always Over The Counter for some seasons and some areas.
Welcome to Colorado.... glad to see you're not from Kalifornia (as in "Don't Kalifornicate Colorado!")

Thanks guys and thanks for the info EKM. I'll have to see if I can get some kind of tag for the area. Going out this weekend to look for a place to live. Yea, we are lucky we are not moving there from CA or NY. No offense towards those states in particular, but people seem to like Iowans and other midwesterners.

There is some great hunting in that area. We have a family cabin just north of town. Sad to say I usually dont hunt there as I live on the other side of the state.
Dad shot a nice muley in Mt. Zirkel Wilderness area still in velvet.

Welcome, I don't live there either. However, I hunt about 35 miles SE of there. You are in some excellent country! DOW has an excellent range a few miles east of Krimmling. Keep in touch, any thing I can do to assist just ask.
