I'm also applying for my first ml tag for this fall, but I was hoping to get
drawn not just get a pref point. Did I catcha part of n5638b's post that you need at least 1 pref point to be successful for out of stater's. Does
this mean there's no chance of me getting drawn for this year?

If you check out Colorado's DOW site, they have all the stats for draw results, herd size, harvest stats and what it usually takes to draw in a specific area.

OneBig, if you draw a ML tag your first try w/ no Pref. Pts I'll crap my pants!!! Its a very limited draw. You need pts to get one, sometimes as many as 3pts.

One question... So if i'm applying just for a PP with the PP code, do I still have to purchase a $10 Habitat stamp? Thanks

To help out with the Habitat stamp. You only need the stamp if you purchase an actual hunting license. So to apply for a preference point NO you do not need a habitat stamp.

I have also been living and Colorado since 1979 and am a former armed officer for Colorado Department of Natural Resources.

Onebigelk: As stated, with 0 points, you have NO chance of getting a bull tag. With 1 point, you might have a 5% chance, but probably noone with 1 point will get a bull tag this year. I am just hoping that my 2 points are enough to draw. I am afraid that not all people with 2 points will get a tag this year.

HOWEVER, if you really want to hunt, put in for a bull tag as a first choice and a cow muzzy tag as your second choice. You would have a decent shot at drawing a cow as a second choice. If you want to hunt for sure, then put the cow down as your first choice and you will be drawn.

txh, those are good options. I actually set aside vacation time for the ML
season and the 2nd rifle season just in case. So I also will probably be applying for PP only then just go the over the counterroute in october. Since this thread was started I talked toa DOW rep and he confirmed that last year no one drew a tag with no pref points and a few did with only one. This should help BuckAlley keep his pants clean.
