New world record elk killed last year???
I ran into a deer hunter recently who laid claim to killing the new world record bull elk in southwest Colorado last year with a muzzleloader, and supposedly had it all written up with pics in the November (not sure if it was November 2001 or 2002) issue of "RACK" magazine (I think that's the name of the mag he said). Can anyone confirm this story with a link to an article on the internet? Is there actually a "RACK" magazine out there? Sounds like a magazine that Al Bundy would have on his nightstand right next to "BIG 'ENS".

RACKCHASER yes there is such a magazine called RACK. I subscribe to it but I don`t remeber the story on the record elk but it still could have been in one of the issues you mentioned. Maybe check it out at there web site http://www.rackmag.com/

Never heard of a new pending record. I assume this person was talking Rocky Mtn subspecies. Jim Shockey will be submitting a Roosevelt elk for measurement this week. He seems pretty certain it will be the new ml world record.http://www.jimshockey.com/news.asp?newsid=216

RE: New world record elk killed last year???
I am not positive so if I am wrong don't kill me, but I think the world record Rocky Mountian Bull Elk was killed a few years ago in Canada it scored 510. Another Rocky Mountian Bull Elk was killed on San Carlos Reservation I think it scored 489, but it did not make the record books because the hunter was a felon. Good luck.

A big bull was killed in Alberta (Hardisty area of east-centeral part of the province) with a bow this fall. It was officially mesured at, I believe 422 4/8 P&Y points.
