Spring Bear

ok im going on my first bear hunt in about three weeks. ive never been but im going with a friend that killed his last year. i have more hunting experience just not with bears, he has little hunting experience but hes got his bear.

im wondering if anybody has any tips or advice to offer. im hunting an area known for bears so i know i will be in the right area but i can't use bait and i can't use dogs. so stalking will be the only option. any help you can give would be great.

Find a post with BearGuy on it, sure sounds as if he realy has an edge on the sport. If not I'm sure he can lead you in the rite direction. GB50

Early in the spring the bears hang around water courses gorging on new growth[clover/dandylion shoots]along with slugging large amts. of H20.Concentrate on south facing slopes and cutlines that have the above vegetation. It sounds nasty but the bear's plumbing hasn't been working in months so they need all this to get rid of the fecial plug before moving on to regular foods.Spot and stalk can also be effective[bear cub in distress calls]....Good luck....Harold

Predator calls are an option. Rabbit distress, elk distress and fawn distress will really entice a big ol' boar.
