montana deadline

The deadline is march 15 ,who is applying and for what tags?I have 2 bonus points and If I don't draw this year ,I'll lose faith in the bonus pt. setup.I planned this hunt for the fall of 2005 and I am wandering if I'll ever get to go.I don't think I'll be banking on another montana hunt in the future.

RE: montana deadline

What are you applying for?

The Deer Combo has historically had about a 20% chance of getting drawn. Even with your bonus points you only have about a 50/50 chance of getting drawn this year.

The Elk & Deer Combo is more expensive, but hashistorically had about a60% chance of getting drawn. That's the one I applied for. If you are applying for the Elk & Deer combo and still aren't getting drawn then you must have some pretty bad luck.

It is the elk and deer combo .I agree that is some bad luck ,that I hope ends in april.I'll have $60 invested in bonus pts. this year .They charged me $20 just to use my 2 pts. from the last two years.

If my math is correct you have a 94% chance of being drawn this time with the 3 chances. Unless a bunch of other guys have some bonus points too!

I didn't pay the extra $20 for the bonus points. Now I'm thinking that might not have been very smart. [&:]

Hope you guys get the draws to work in your favor. I moved to Montana acouple years ago and can buy the lic over the counter as a resident. But I have applied many years in Montana in the draws to know its fusterating.... With that many points, you SHOULD draw out this year. Dont loose faith in Montana, holds good animals yet with good odds of being drawn. I put in other states for MANY MANY more years than your talking to yet draw the tags.....

Yep. I grew up in Montana and didn't ever really appreciate how good things were there as far as hunting and fishing. HUGE amounts of public land and even during rifle season you could spend the day out and only see a few other hunters.

The good old days ,back in the late 80s to the mid. 90s ,If you sent the $450 in befor the 15th you could start packing. Now life's getting shorter ,I'm getting older and the tags are getting harder to buy.
