Winchester BST 150 7mm Rem Mag/ and Elk???
Will Winchester Supreme Ballistic Silver Tip (150 grain) 7mm Rem Mag. drop an elk? Also, what about Express Corlockt 150 grain, same caliber?
I keep seeing people talk about how something sucks really bad, then someone else says it's the next best thing. All I want to know is under regular circumstances has anyone dropped elk and was completely satisfied by these rounds, especially the BST. Accuracy?

RE: Winchester BST 150 7mm Rem Mag/ and Elk???
I dont know about the 150 gr. bullets, But I have taken Elk with the 160 gr. Nos. Part....
Dropped like a stone. The best bullet that I have found for MY 7 Mag. is the 175 GR. Horn. Inter. I have a very good Reciept for this bullet that works like a champ. I also shoot the 175 Gr. in my 7mm RUM although it is the 175 Gr. Swift A-Frame. Seems that my 7's tend to like the heavier type bullets.
Just my thoughts though.

RE: Winchester BST 150 7mm Rem Mag/ and Elk???
I use the 7mm rem mag and 150 Nosler ballistic Tip for deer sized game only. I have harvested elk with Barnes, Nosler Partition, Accubond and Failsafes fired from my 7mm rem mag all have worked well but Barnes TSX and Nosler Partitionare my favorites. My current load for bigger than deeris 140gr Barnes TSX (handload) which has taken both elk and moose with flying colours.
I would not suggest either of the bullets mentioned for elk hunting. I am sure some one some where will say differently I consider elk to be the toughest of the deer species to topple and there for they require a solid constructed bullet to ensure positive results. I suggest trying the Partition, TSX, Failsafe, TBBC, Aframe or a premium bonded like the Nosler Accubond or Hornady Interbond if you can't find or get the others shooting well.
Good Luck

My brother-in-law shoots a .280 rem,he bought 5-6 boxes of the 140 gr BST(he wanted the silver brass to re-load cause his boy shoots a 30-06 and his dad shoots a 270 win).He shot his first elk with it last weekend,1 cow hit her right on the shoulder, totaly blew the crap outa of her leg.The was no penetration and it took several follow-up's to finish her off.
I would recomend a nosler,Barnes or Grandslams in the 7 Mag.I bought several boxes of the Nosler 140 gr Accu-bond to try this year but never did use it.

I have a hunting partner that uses 150 core-lok's on elk. He gets them on the ground but they just don't seem to work real well. The break apart a lot. They ruin a lot of meat and the elk sometimes go a little ways before going down. But yes they will kill an elk.

The winchester fail safes would be a better choice. Better yet would be Federal premiums with either Nosler partition bullets or Barnes TSX. Elk can be tough critters the deserve a premium bullet.
