How big is this black bear?

I got this picture off my digital trail cam. The 2x4 that the bear is smelling is 7 feet off of the ground. So far we estimate that the bear is 300 to 350 puonds. What do you think?

If the 2x4 is 7 feet of the ground and his rump is 1 foot and a half or so off the ground. He would square out at around 5 1/2 feet or so. If he pushed closer to 6 feet, I think that he would even then have a hard time making that weight. I would guess fall weight around the 200 to 225 mark. he looks awefully slender with bigger ears also.

I agree with Elkcrazy...this bear is not a pound over 250. Body measurments are taken nose to tail...so standing on hind feet should be about right. This bear probably is 5 1/2 feet nose to tail. The most often guessed weight of bears in the feild is 300 pnds. Yet, they have the greatest ground shrinkage of ANY other North American game animal.
The bear in this photo is 'a good sized' average bear.

If the board is about 7' from the ground then the tree is no wider than a foot and one half. Small bear IMO. 120-150 pounds max and I see lots of them around here.

Nice bear but about 200 or 225. My guess.

225-250. He is way bigger than 120 but I don't think he will go near 300+. This bear was right at 250.
The bear on the left was 150 so you can see a 150 bear is a pretty small bear.
