12 gauge for beer hunting

I am planning to black bear hunt next year. I have never bear hunted before, but I figured why not, as the area I am hunting on has the second highest quota in the state of MN. My qestion is, would using a 12 gauge, rifled barrel with 3" sabots, an ounce or so work well on black bears? Thanks for all of the feedback before hand.

sounds to me like a great plan for a good close range shot, put in the right spot and you shouldnt have a bit of trouble

a 12 gauge will really do a job on beer.....especially in cans instead of bottles.

For beer, a bottle opener usually works better than a 12 gauge!!!!

a 12 gauge would be just fine for bear.
