bearhuntr,

You have your facts badly contorted and that's not a good thing on a public forum, especially for the other people who might be reading your posts. Don't confuse them.
Unfortunately, that isall too often "morethe rule than the exception," especially when the discussion rangesbeyond the bounds of the local deer patch. Always good to see a few like yourself and Stubblejumper trying (often to no avail) to straighten out the mess; however, folks believe what they want to believe, and espouse what they espouse, experience or no....

As we have seen on another post here, if you have enough time and enough shells, the mini 14 in 223 works.

What's an AR-15?
A semi-auto military style firearm, that is chambered in .223
The AR-15 comes in 223 & 7.62x39. The 308 variant is actually a larger frame that 'resembles' the M16, much bigger though.

Well if I was going after a griz.the min caliber I would be carring would be either 300 win mag or .338 mag with 454 casull for back up.Both rifles loaded with at least a 200 gr bullet. A 30-06 would be good for black bear (taken 5 with mine) Wouldn't try for a grizzly with it.AS for AR-15 in .223 you would better carring 2,30 round clips for it.
