Caribou are bigger than deer but smaller than elk, so what catridge to sight in the .308 with? I'm heading to northern Quebec end of November and need to start getting ready.

CXP2 - they are very much like deer in body structure and most use a deer type bullets when hunting Bou. Nosler Ballistic Tips, Gamekings, etc are very popular caribou and deer bullets. The new bonded bullets also seem to be gaining ground from the deer and up crowd -ie:Accubond. Since you referenced winchester (olin) classification maybe their new xp3 bulletin the elite lineup might be of interest? Supposed to be the best of both worlds, at least according to the winchester press releases and reports I have seen by rag writers.
Good luck |

a bigger bullet can never hurt when hunting big game...the cxp3 would pack a nice punch and you can guarantee the caribou wont go far

Shoot whichever you like better, or is cheaper, or whatever. Caribou are not near as tough as deer or elk. If this is your first hunt for them you will be surprised how easily they fall. Any deer cartridge would be fine. I bowhunted them the last time and they never went more than 70 yards. All of the rifle hunters virtuallydropped them in their tracks, and some of those shots were far from perfect. It is awesome country up there and just awesome if the Northern Lights come out. Best of luck to you.

From all of my buddies experience it doesn't take more than deer loads/bullets but you can never go wrong by going heavy....dead is dead!

I would go with a good old Nosler Partition. Good luck.
