one tough black bear

this eavening i shot this black bear like 50 yards away it was quartering towards me slightly and all i had was its right front shoulder and thats were i put the bullet through the center of the right shoulder and the bullet came out behind the left shoulder after the shot he took off and ran into 2 thick willow trees and made it another 30 yards or so but its so amazing how they can keep going after all that

Wild animals in general amaze me at their toughness. It's a wonder that we are the dominant species when you figure in what a bunch of weenies we are comparitively speaking.

They are extremely tough animals. I feel you need to be extra careful w/ shot placement w/ Black bears more than any other animal I have ever hunted.
Congrats on the kill. I look forward to seeing the pics!~

I shot a bear in the fall with my 30-06 and 180 grain failsafes. The bear was broadside and the bullet entered just behind the right shoulder, passed through the near lung, ripped the heart in half, and then winged the off side lung. The bear ran a good ways after being shot. Blood was everywhere and the bear was dead within 15 seconds, but he covered some ground!
