well, Trophy potential is pretty good in some areas, I believe you have to hunt with a "hunter host", so you have to hunt with an Alberta resident. Lot's of the good areas are draw only, and im not sure how non-resident draws work. Lot's of the areas that are non-draw will have lot's of hunting pressure but still have good potential you just have to hike away from the roads. I believe that you can as a non-resident alien can get you hunter host to buy an over the counter tag,

If you want to hunt alberta you must use the services of an outfitter.

Actually you do not have to use the services of an outfitter in Alberta. It would greatly improve your chances of success and having an enjoyable time. How ever, as "8 Seconds" (a rodeo cowboy or someone with a "premature E. problem") said there is an option of hunting with a "Hunter Host".

A resident of Alberta can act as a guide for ONE (two, if one is a relative) non-resident alien (like from the USA, not Mars) but "NOT FOR GAIN OR REWARD, OR ACCEPT REMUNERATION, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, FOR SUCH SERVICES"

Go to the site "8 Seconds" mentioned and you can see a copy of the "Alberta Guide to Hunting Regulations" and the information for Guides, Outfitters and Hunter Hosts.

After rechecking the regulations you can hunt with a hunter host but only two people may hunt with each hunter host in one year.Therefore for you and your two sons to hunt you would require two licensed hunter hosts.

Here is a quote about what a Host Hunter can do:"...may host a maximum of two (2) hunters/year, either no-residents (Canadian), Non-resident Alien or a combination thereof. If hosting 2 Non-resident Aliens, at least 1 must be a relative.

I take that to mean that 1 must be a relative of the Host Hunter. Though one might think that if 1 of the Non-residents is a relative of the other it would be ok. However the Host Hunter has to fill out some paper to get licenses for the hunters and it would come out that he was or was not a relative to the non-res. alien.

So it could take three Host hunters to host three Non-resident Aliens.
