Boy I cant wait till they clone a T-Rex then that will take care of the wolves . They have the right to live to ya know we can turn them loose in the capital that should solve all our wolf problems.

This topic was started with an article describing the supposed killing of a man by a wolf. People are killed every year in Canada by bears. Is the answer to irradicate them, both the grizzzly and black bears? No one in Saskatchwan is worried about goin in the woods, nor talkin about killin off wolves. This is just stupid.
If re-introductions are such bad things, then please return the thousands of bighorn sheep sent from canada to repopulate the US.

First, you can keep your stinking sheep, I could care less, they aren't eating thousands of elk. Second, its only stupid to you because you can shoot your wolves, they aren't running amok "eating the efforts" of sportsmen in this country. Third, I don't know how your wildlife conservation budgets are set up. Our state game managers and agencies are funded almost entirely by selling licenses and fees from hunters and anglers. If huntable populations of elk are diminished to the point of losing licenses and fees like around Yellowstone and in Idaho, people won't buy those licenses and pay those fees if there is nothing to hunt. Hence no game managers etc. No its not stupid for us to be irritated.

99% of all animals to have ever lived on this rock are now extinct. Be it by nature or man. To argue that re-introducing one here or there makes a difference is borderline insane. In the case of the wolf, they still exist in other places. If re-introducing them makes you feel good as person, then there is merit. If it is to re-establish some sort of natural balance, then you are literally "whizzing in the wind". The mumbo jumbo about having some sort of harmonic balance by adding wolves to a place makes me laugh. Why? What does it do? From a practical standpoint it accomplishes nothing. Does it make you feel less guilty about the transgressions visited upon this noble beast by your forefathers? To equate something like this to the near genicide of the Native American is something I personally find abhorent!
Should not our guidance in matters such as these be less vain? We are stewards of this land and it's inhabitants, and as such must make decisions based on our ability as sentient beings. Contrary to opinions proferred previously, we are the apex, the top dog, the big cheese, numero uno when it comes to the food chain. If you are of Christian belief, it even says so in your instruction book.

The majesty and beauty of the wolf is undeniable. But to suggest that they "must" be here is nonsense. Don't you find it interesting that the vast majority of those that want the Wolfback someplace (where ever), don't live in that place? I like beer joints, but please don't put it next door!!! Casino? You bet, but not in our state!
Seems to be a fight a brewing between the states and the Fed on this subject. I for one hope the states win.
When the line gets drawn between what is best for man and his needs versus that of an animal, I will unfailingly be on the side of man.

You can keep the sheep, they were a gift.It seems to me that they must contributing to the budgets of your game departments too. I say again we have both wolves and lots of game.
In a few years you will be in this same chat room all excited about a wolf hunt in Montana or Colorado.
Too bad there seems to be no sence of humour left south of the border. Even with wolves there will be lots of elk to hunt next year.

But I sure as heck wouldn't bet on it. We need a season on wolves in many areas. NOW. Not in a few more years.
