RE: Elk Rifles
I shot my elk this year with the 30-06. I used the Federal factory loads loaded with the barnes triple shock in 180 grain. One shot kill. They are very acurate and they do awsome on elk. I recovered my bullet under the hide on the off side after it went threw a rib going in and threw the shoulder on the other side. Bullet looked like the ones you see on the barnes web site--perfect expansion. I shot some 3/4 inch groups at 100 yds. so the acuracy is very impresive also.

RE: Elk Rifles
Please don't take 400 yard shots though. Even if a rifle has enough punch, getting that little bullet into the right place is infinately more difficult at that distance
