I made a pact with my stepfather before we went bear hunting that if either one of us were being attacked by a bear you shoot to kill the bear first and think about the attackees safety second. It is much easier to fix a bullet hole (that hopefully doesn't hit fatally) than a series of bear wounds from a bear trying to rip my face off and eat my brains.

I agree with Alaska,
A bullet would be far worse. Most people survive bear attacks. I doubt many people survive a 200 grain bullet, and almost never when in the middle of no-where. Make a good shot to begin with and the rest will be fine.

I read a story about this vidio about 4 years ago. it was a lion that was old and had been kicked out of the pride. it had killed several cattle. it was killed on a ranch but it was'nt a canned hunt. the story I read stated that the shooter was on a plains game hunt when a call came over the radio, the this lion had killed a small child at the ranch and he was in the field. the pro hunter let him shoot it at no charge. the first shot was a touch far back. The shooter in this vidio got a very bad infection in his arm from the encounter, he almost died. or so the story was told. he wound up in a hospital for about a week.

Man...Just my 2 cents worth here, but I hope people aspiring to be real hunters don't watch that and think that's what real hunting is. That's just planned shooting, and in my lowly opinion we may liken that to varmint shooting, African style. To echo some other posters' observations, yes, the lion didn't act like a lion should, and it looked like someone's farm. They're all to blame, every one of those clowns in on the "hunt". That guy who got slashed and bittenby the lion got off too easy.
