Dall Sheep Pics
Here are the pics I promised...
Lil, answers to your questions and the story... I'm having him mounted by a local taxidermist here in Oregon. I just stuck the cape and horns in a duffel and checked it though the airline, saved a bunch on the freight costs. I got him with a 30-06 at about 300 yards, which is about twice as far as I've ever taken an animal from. I ran into a group of 9 rams while I was on my own, I had no idea where our guide went. I was watching them from a knob above them that I had crawled out onto. By the way, during this time there was a very strong wind on the mountain and it was extremely cold to lie motionless in. I watched them for about an hour or so before I saw the biggest ram in the group, which was the one I took. Since he was borderline legal I watched him for another 15 minutes or so before I took him. By this time I was about as cold as I have ever been! I've got the pics at this address. http://community.webshots.com/album/51545271tTeCMW Let me know if you have any problems viewing the pics and I'll try again! |
RE: Dall Sheep Pics
very nice man!
Who were you hunting with as far as guides. I dont think Deltna outfitters has horses...maybe Larry Rivers? Eastern-western brooks? http://www.geocities.com/tradbow007/...dventures.html |
RE: Dall Sheep Pics
We were with Keith Koontz, He runs Chandalar River Outfitters. I think we were camped on a fork of Your Creek. Even with the bad weather it was an awesome time!
