First crack at moose

Just received invitation for a moose hunt in northern Quebec. A buddy from work had his buddies cancel out on him. I've been chasing deer for just two years. Any tips out there on taking one of these with a muzzleloader? More inportantly, what are the differences in butchering?

KEEP YOUR POWDER DRY!!!

The difference in butchering is there is MORE meat...

Good luck bring back some pics

Some advice...take your time with the shot....some new moose hunters get concerned with the moose when they start walking towards them...I think its less distance to cary them. I let them come as close as possible and then wait for a good shot. Moose wont, for the most part, jump like a whit tailed deer. so pick a good rest and dont start letting lead fly and think they are going to drop or even make a shudder if they have been hit. One of the first moose i shot, 2 year old bull, continued to eat and then fell over dead after about 1 minute, thought i missed him clean. So good luck and hold tight to the shoulder and have fun with the carry.
