Buddy got his antelope yesterday
Got to go hunting with my buddy yesterday for his antelope (opening day of rifle here in NV). He was shooting his 300 WM with Winchester Supreme 180 Accubond bullets. We were going down the highway off to another area after striking out in the first spot (another person got the buck we were trying to find), when I saw a doe and a buck. We made it to the next dirt road where we could cut them off (about 1 mile away). He got out about 1/2 mile down the road and I drove down the road farther. The antelope were already running by then. The sound of the truck scared them back towards him across a ravine(to about 25 yards), at which time they took off across the ravine again in the opposite direction. My friend was able to catch him (by luck mostly) at about 300 yards as the buck crossed the other side of the ravine again. The buck dropped in his tracks, and actually broke his lower jaw when he hit the ground. The bullet went in theright side of the chest, didn't expand at all, and then blew the right lung to sitherines:D. Didn't ruin a piece of meat as far as blood shot is concerned, though he will probably only make good sausage anyway. We took pictures, but my friend hasn't developed the camera yet. It was about a 12" tall buck. Not spectacullar, but legal, and it put some sausage in the freezer:D.
