Moose are large animals but they are not difficult to kill.They may not drop at the shot but they won't go far with decent bullet placement.Any premium bullet from 165gr or so on up is more than adequate for a clean kill on a moose.You can use 180gr or even heavier bullets,but they certainly aren't required.

I just like to know that if I have to plow through a heavy shoulder bone to get into the vital area that my bullet is going to hold up. I shoot 180 grain fail safes in my '06 and I can't complain about the performance.

And you can expect the same performance from a 165gr failsafe or tsx.Bullet construction is far more important than bullet weight.

Alright, then maybe I don't have a good reason for suggesting the 180s over the 165s, but I feel much better using the bigger bullet. That has to count for something!
