Hi Md:

How old is "old", exactly?

If you hunt the 45, my free advice is to go the2nd or 3rd season. You can pick up an OTC bull tag and on Aug 8th, you can pick up a leftover cow tag, an easier "either-sex" or better hunt.

Where might you be headed in the 45?

I would like to know how old too. I am 74 and I need a good, easy to get to, sure fire 6x6 hangout. At least if you reverse the numbers of my age I am. Just pulling your chain md1shot. Don't expect to come on a new website and get some "hot spots" without networking for awhile. Good luck. Elk hunting is addicting

I dont know colorado unit by unit, but common sense tells you that since New Mexico has great elk, Arizona has great elk, eastern Utah has great elk,so.....the areas of colorado that border these ....south west colo should be the best for big bulls. I may be wrong, but I would start out w/ that assumption until I found out otherwise.

Southwestern Colorado is pitiful for elk, don't even waste your time here :D

RE: old man needs help!!!!!!

I am not going to tell you where to go exactly but I will tell you that unit 45 definetly has a very healthy population of elk and also some very good bulls. There are bulls in this unit large enough to make B&C and definetly P&Y.

I hunt unit 45 myself and it is an under subscribed unit. Meaning that there are more cow tags available than hunters hunting it. Which means that the elk numbers are high in this area

You could certainly do a whole lot worse than unit 45.

Are you going archery or rifle?
