First impressions of the Zeiss 3.5-10x44 Scope
 

New scope arrived yesterday and luckily my neighbour isa gunsmith and he stuck it on my .338 win mag.

Eye relief is pretty decent...they claim 3.5" but I couldnt tell the difference between the Leupy that claims 4" or the Zeiss in this department.

The weight is lighter than i actually expected it to be..15.8ounces is what they claim.

The clarity is amazing!...im going from a Leupold Vari x II. and a Bushnell Trophy.

The scope has a real solid durable feel to it..the focus ring has just the right amount of resistance to it that once set it shouldnt move on you. The Zoom ring is smooth and very easy to tell at a glance what setting your on.

Tested it in low light and I couldnt believe how much light the scope draws in. Was too dark to see into out feild by eye..but the scope was bright enough to see horses standing in the pasture approx 150yds away!! ( not that you could hunt in those conditions but nice to know you can identify a target in the extreme low light...ie bears,wolves,cougars that are fixing to eat our livestock)

Overall very happy with the purchase and cant wait to fire some rounds through it.

I also just commited to buying a brand new Remington model 700 mountain KS rifle in .338 win mag. NICE!..weighed it and was 6lbs 2 ounces. Should be a nice replacement for my M77 MK II Ruger.

Thought I would throw my 2 cents in for anyone that is sourceing out optics for their big game hunting!

That is one thing that Zeiss is known for. The sharpness of their image. I would be curious to know if your scope uses either Flourite in the glass or an ED or HD glass somewhere in the design. Regardless, thanks for the review.

i put a Zeiss 3X9 on my fathers 300 weatherby mag and went to alaska in may for a black bear hunt. When i finally found my bear it was a little over a hundred yards away and it was so dark i couldnt tell what end was the head end. I looked through the scope and i was so suprisedhow clearly i could see the bear. I made a nice shot and got a nice bear. I compared the zeiss to the leupold and presonally i thought the zeiss had a better look to it myself.

We did a comparison this evening to a Leupold Vari x III and the Zeiss is deffinitely the crisper scope...also very noticeably brighter than the Leupy...the Zeiss was slightly more expensive than the Leupys but comparable. I just hope the Zeiss warranty and service is as good as Leupolds!!

I looked and shot a .338 Um that had a Zeiss 3-9 on it last year,and it is one of the best scopes for the dollar.
Great clarity and well built.

I've had a chance to put a box of shells through .338 win with the Zeiss scope and I DIG it!!

Super clear, stays focused exactly how you set it, even through 20 rounds of moderate to heavy recoil that the .338 win dishes out. The reticle is a # 20 Z-plex. I don't think anyone could go wrong buying this scope for big game hunting.
