After reading my answer to the cut question I realized I assumed you meant down the spine to cut the rib section in two. Maybe you weren't referring to that so yes some was cut with a bone saw like the breast bone and neck.

Cool picture. Great that you could takeyour sonalong like that.Sorry to hear you and your family can't go back home very much. Family is very important. Kinda hard in your profession though, at least for now, great job your doing though. I wish my brothers and I could hunt elk regularly like that. All we have in NY are whitetails. I want to get my brothers and a close friend to go on a Moose hunt within a couple years from now if we can manage to get everyones schedule to coincide. We all hunt together in our hunting camp for deer. I am going back to Colorado again this fall for the 3rd rifle season with a friend of mine, his brother lives there. Nice pictures, and glad you had a chance to go hunting with your son and family members, good luck this year hopefully.

On the bone saw issue. What really works great if you're somewhere weight isn't a problem is a cordless Reciprocating Saw.

After seeing this for the first time. I didn't care if I killed an elk or not.
