RE: Do You Reward landowners for use of land?
I hunted on private land last year in MT during deer season (shot a nice 8 point whitetail). I thanked the owner (a neighbor of my family) after the hunt and sent him a Cabella's gift certificate when I got home. I've since learned that he appreciated the certificate and told my family (I live out of state) that I can hunt on his property anytime I want.

Well first you should find out if they are drinking man, most like a little bottle of something.Always send a card thanking them.
If they don't drink send them a Christmas card, and a gift certificate to a GOOD resturant.(Not a 10.00 pak of Mc D's cupons)
Most I give a 30-40 dollar bottle of something,and a free dinner.
As for the guy and his Scottch,I like a little burbon now and then, but I would dump that $60.00 bottle of scottch on the ground.

I hunt public land, but tanned a red fox and muskrat for the fellow that let me trap his land. He thought the hides were great. I've also offered to help him put up hay, though he's not taken me up on it.

No, I am the landowner and the hunt is my reward. Liability lawyers make it impossible for me to allow anyone else the privilege.[:@]

I lease my hunting property (6 hunters 1250.00 per hunter) so we are paying him a good deal of money to start off with, yes we do share our harvest's with him, and on one of my leases we even leave the owner a case or two of beer in the fridge for them hot RTexas summer days while working on the farm, he really appreciates it..

In our lease agreement we have a "Hold harmless agreement" all the contracts where drawn up by his lawyers, but on the note about the horses Texas now has some new equine laws that protect horse owners and trainers against third party injuries...
