It's tough hunting, there is better places in Montana to hunt. About 10 or 12 years ago it was good hunt. I would check with the biologists I have his number his name is Kevin ? phone number is 406-837-3335 call-in evenings. Good Luck!!!!

If you're a nonresident you could return or tag and get your money back and I could use it. LOL

Would'nt suggest hunting the "Bob" if you've never been in there. They'll are some good areas in there but access is limited due to the terrain and elevation, as some one esle said there are easier hunts that maybe just as productive with a lot less work, but if you feel froggie than go for it dude and good luck. ;) Bobby

The "Bob" is a very tough place for the first timer,if you doing a DIY hunt. There is alot to consider, horse, food, weather, gear. The area you have mentiond accualy has a good numder of elk, mule deer and white-tail,but very, very thick.

If you are going guided then by all means go,the sceanery is spectacular, the fishing is good. This a back country hunt and is alot of fun.

I have hunted the "Bob" and took a bull out of there in 2003,I have hunted it on several more hunts,we pack with 10 horse 3 to ride and 7 to pack and we still have to make two trips to get everything out, alot of work and alot of bears. We hunt up on the North Fork.

What season are you going early rifle, late rifle or archery?

I have allso hunted the BOB. IT sucks the GUides Have done all in there power to make it hard for people to hunt it. They let there horses run loose early and eat all the grass. They allso feed the elk with there hay to get them in spots. The griz population is nuts.If you do run in to any guides they will not be nice. They hate to see people hunting ANY where around there spots.

If you are going in alone [no guide]. You will need feed for your horses. That is alot of pellets. If you pick your spot using a map.Odds are when you get there there will be 3 tents where you thought would be good.I hunt very light. Use 3 horses 2 guys, but I walk out. Use the horses to pack the elk.

I like to hunt way in.Lots of work but not many people. The bob is difrant many many people.I allway see new and great things in the bob.BUT I would look at difrant spots than there. The bob has been the worst 3 hunts I have went on here in Montana.

It you are going in guided.Good luck take a camra for the pics of the big old griz.

If you are around HELENA MT. or are out of state give me a PM. I would be glade to tell you some better places.

I don't have any experience in the bob marshal wilderness. but, I can tell you that wilderness hunting is the way hunting should be. Its an amazing experience. There are a lot of hardships to endure, but they make the rewards that much sweeter. Get in shape, and get your mind ready for the hardest week of your life. Then go have the time of your life.

I'm hunting with a guide the third week of September. I've hunted the Clearwater in Idaho and Colorado Area 84 where terrain can be tough. The Clearwater was hard hunting especially with all the snow we got. Last year I did a cow hunt in NM and that was fairly easy except for getting the damn critters out.
I'm hoping that the rut will be in full swing and I'm get lucky. I'm prepared however for a tougher than usual experience.
