Is there a pickup that gets 25-30 mpg?
 

Gonna be in the market for a new ride come income tax refund time. gonna be looking for something i can use as a daily driver to work and back and to run the backroads, looking for anything fun outdoors. Does anyone know of any pickups new or old, 2wd or 4wd, 4cyl or 6 cyl that can get me 25-30 mpg. I'm probably looking to spend $12500 or less. Thanks for ANY info. Shaner

30mpg will be a stretch for any pickup. Maybe hit 30 in a Ranger 5spd, in a straight line on highway at 50mph

Escape will get close, but it's not a pickup. It'll be good for high-20s maybe just touch 30 if you're careful. The Hybrid version will do it, but it's not a pickup

Hard to get anywhere near 25mpg with a PU even a small one. I have a 2010 F150 with a 5.4V8 and I get around 20 on a trip and 18 around town. Not sure about that ecco boost. I think the dif in price would pay for a lot of gas. I plan to trade in a year or so and will look at Ford again. Much better ride and performance than all my previous Silverados.

Answer is really no. Four popper rangers would be best IMO.

Full size? The new dodge v-6 gets good mileage.

The best I ever got out of any of my trucks was in a 91 S-10 v6 2.8 4spd that got me about 19 to 23 city/hwy

my 97 2.3L ranger gets about 18-20 city. its an automatic which limits how good it can be on gas. gonna change the plugs soon, run some seafoam and motor honey through it see if it ups it at all. If your serious about getting good mpg get a bullydog tuner. it hooks up to your computer system and there are 3 tunes for it, power, economy, and both. It says it will boost your hp by 15-20 and it can give you up to 5 more mpg. they are about 300 bucks.

Every Ford F350 I have owned or dealt with 7.3 diesel (7of them over the years) got 24 empty/16 with a 28' gooseneck hauling farm related loads around the state of Fla. As soon as they hit 100k they lost 25% and went to 16/10 or so. BUT you have this mileage thing all wrong! You have to think about this a little bit but,,,,, most of the problems in this world, think along terrorism and related topics, like Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran etc. are funded by Petrol dollars. My take is the sooner the oil runs out the sooner the trouble makers wont have access to unlimited funds and excessive time on their hands to think about what to do next. They will have to start rethinking about basic stuff like eating sooner or later. When they get to that point,,, WORLD PEACE! That's one reason I drive a 1962 Jeep utility wagon,9mpg,10 if I can get to the top of the hill and coast down. OH the things we do for mankind! (I hope that wasn't too political for the thread). (JMHO)

I've "heard" that the Dodge diesels with a tuner can get somewhere in the mid 20's and my buddy's Ford 350 with a diesel and tuner gets low 20's. I can tell you that a GMC 3/4 tons with diesel gets 13-15.
