Always cinch a strap to the ramps so they can't slide off the tailgate. If possible I will pick a place that either puts the truck tires in a depression or the end of the ramps on an incline to reduce the steepness of the ramps. If the ramps are either wet or frosty I load in sand to get sand on the tires or put some sand on the ramps so the tires don't slide.

I like to use either 4wheel low or differential lock when driving up and never ride it down.

I used to use the ramps until they slipped one day caused me to hit the gas and drive through my back glass. been using a trailer ever since. It was a tight fit anyway arctic cat 400 with winch and brush guard in a f150. good luck with your choice
